Our accessibility policy was approved by the Nederland Community Library board of directors on March 20, 2024. Read the policy here.

Nederland Community Library is fully committed to providing accessible facilities, elements, and channels of communication to all members of the public. As part of this commitment, Nederland Community Library has a policy of providing an accessible website compatible with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) and commercial screen reading software. We are working to make all features of the website coded to allow individuals with vision and other impairments to understand and use the website to the same degree as someone without disabilities. We welcome feedback and can often resolve issues in a timely manner if they arise.

Compliance Officer

Nederland Community Library has designated Jessie Ansari as its compliance officer for website disability-related accommodations. The compliance officer has received training in website accessibility and facilitates updates to the site in accordance with those best practices.

Compliance Procedures and Reports

Nederland Community Library regularly scans its website to ensure ongoing compliance and makes timely changes to any inaccessible items, if any are found. In our ongoing commitment to transparency, we make the last three months’ reports available to the public (starting in May 2024).

Please note that this site may link out to third-party websites, such as state or federal agencies, that do not have accessible content. This site may also include documents provided by third parties included in our agenda packets, for example. While we cannot control the accessibility of content provided by third parties, we are happy to assist any member of the public with reading and accessing content on our site.

Limitations and Alternatives

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of our website, there may be some limitations. Below is description of known limitations, and potential solutions. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below.

Known accessibility limitations:

  1. Videos without captions: Some video content may not have captioning. We are working to caption all video and audio content.
  2. Audio files lack transcriptions
  3. Archived PDF files may not be fully accessible to screen-reader software.
