How to check out an item from another library

5 EASY STEPS

 

1. CHECK

that Nederland Community Library does not have the item in our AspenCat database. Search using the library’s catalog .

2. GO TO

ZPortal and sign in with your Nederland Community Library card and PIN (password) which is usually your last name, and for NCL patrons is **ALL lower CASE.**  Select Nederland Community Library from the drop-down menu.

3. CHOOSE

the current profile of libraries you want to search. Best option is ALL LIBRARIES.

4. Perform a search or advanced search.

Click on the GET IT icon when you have found the item(s) you wish to request. Make sure you have the correct title, author and format.

Newly published items within the last six months and Best Sellers are not available through the ZPortal service due to high levels of demand at the lending libraries.

Fields such as the ISBN or lending libraries that are blank will cause the request to stall.

Please allow 10 minutes after submission for requests to appear in your request queue.

5. When the item arrives

you will receive notification that the item is ready for pick up at Nederland Community Library. It is checked out to you once it arrives; please pick it up at your earliest convenience.

Check the status of your request at any time by logging on to ZPortal.

HELPFUL HINTS

Make sure you have chosen the Nederland Community Library from the drop down menu when you sign on to your account. Our PINs (passwords) are all lower case.

Newly published items within the last six months and Best Sellers are not available through the ZPortal service due to high levels of demand at the lending libraries.

Requesting an item that is available through NCL’s collection (AspenCat) or an item that is not available from ZPortal due to high demand could result in the order going to an “Idle” status. Contact the Nederland Community Library staff for assistance.
