Erika Krouse
Former Nederland resident Erika Krouse is a writer of fiction and nonfiction, most recently Tell Me Everything: The Story of a Private Investigation (March 2022, Flatiron Books). Tell Me Everything is the winner of the 2023 Edgar Award for Best Fact Crime, the Colorado Book Award for Creative Nonfiction, and the Housatonic Book Award for Nonfiction. It is also a New York Times Editors’ Choice, a Book of the Month Club pick, a People Magazine People Pick, named “Best Nonfiction of 2022” by BookPage and Kirkus Reviews, and “Best 10 Books of 2022” by both Slate and Jezebel. Tell Me Everything is currently optioned for TV adaptation by Playground Entertainment.
Jenny Shank
Jenny Shank, another former Nederland resident, grew up in Denver, Colorado, and earned degrees from the University of Notre Dame and the University of Colorado. Her short story collection Mixed Company won the George Garrett Fiction Prize and the Colorado Book Award in General Fiction in 2022. Her novel The Ringer (The Permanent Press, 2011) won the High Plains Book Award in fiction, was a finalist for the Mountains & Plains Independent Booksellers Association’s Reading the West Book Awards, and a Tattered Cover Book Store Summer Reading 2011 selection.
John Mattson

These dreams have taken him on a lifelong journey of adventure and exploration that covers six continents and five extreme sports.
Kay Turnbaugh
The Last of the Wild West Cowgirls follows the story of Goldie Griffith Cameron who rode bucking broncos for the Buffal Bill Wild West shows, was married before 8,000 people, became one of our country’s first professional female athletes, and then ‘retired’ to Nederland where she ranched, trained dogs for the war, and owned restaurants and boarding houses. A WILLA Literary Award runner-up.
