ABOUT ME:

Hello!
I’m so excited to begin to share my journey to the Netherlands this summer.
First, I’d like to introduce myself a little more thoroughly.

I’m originally from a little town in Colorado called Nederland (Ned) .  I’ve been here since I was about 3 years old. It’s what one would call my “home town.”  I have been a librarian at our local library for about 4 years now, and I can say that working with books is such a lovely thing. I also have a HUGE passion for photography and videography which I try to incorporate into everything that I do.

MY ROLE:

For this uber -exciting trip I am going to be our trip videographer for our Nederland newspaper, the Mountain-Ear, as well as helping out as a chaperone.   I get the chance to make new connections with our youth here in Nederland and the Netherlands. Which ROCKS!
I am beyond ecstatic to be able to document these special times, not only for myself but for everyone else!

WHY?:

Adventure.
Exploration.
Cultural immersion.
It’s about stepping out of your comfort zone, embracing new experiences, learning new things and meeting new people.
It is a journey of personal growth and reflection. I think that passion and authenticity are key when it comes to learning.

WHAT AM I MOST EXCITED ABOUT?:

– For the Colorado side of things, I think it will be very interesting to see how our Dutch friends take this elevation;  I’m crossing my fingers for no sickly feelings!

But I am very excited to show them the rodeo and mountain camping;  I’m hoping for new experiences for them and LOTS of smiles!
–  Smiles work well  for pictures too 😉 –

-For the Netherlands side of things,
I am very interested in learning overall how they do things differently than here in the States.” Love me some education!!”
I am also jumping at the idea of visiting Amsterdam.
And the beach?  Wind sailing? Might as well catapult me over there, I’m ready!
Also, I heard something about mud?
Not a problem. 😁
