We extend our sympathies to Hughes Moir’s family. Hughes worked tirelessly to establish a library in Nederland, helping with fundraisers and writing numerous guest columns for The Mountain-Ear about the benefits of a library. Town voters approved the library district in 2002, and Hughes remained involved with the library over the ensuing 20 years. Hughes died April 4. We are going to miss you, Hughes.
We also will miss Marion Reynolds, the artist who created the sculpture that greets library patrons at our front door. Marion lived in Nederland for more than 45 years and leaves behind numerous sculptures around town that he created from ‘found’ and recycled materials. Marion died from natural causes on March 13 at the age of 67.
