Buffalo Bill Museum & Grave

The Buffalo Bill Museum & Grave opened in 1921, after William F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody’s death,under the name “Pahaska Tepee.” The name came from Coldy’s hunting lodge in Wyoming, and the original museum was run by a partnership between Cody’s foster son and the city and county of Denver. The museum houses an extensive collection assembled by Cody’s family and friends; the collection continues growing today as the museum identifies more items that tell the story of Cody’s life and burial.

When you visit the museum, in addition to learning about Buffalo Bill’s wild west show (which Nederland’s own Goldie Griffith performed in), be sure to spend time on Lookout Mountain, visit Buffalo Bill Cody’s grave and take in the expansive views of the front range and plains from the Observation Deck. You can pack a picnic or find native fare at Pahaska’s Provisions on site. And don’t forget the bison viewing, only a 15 minute drive away!

Your Nederland Community Library’s community pass for The Buffalo Bill Museum & Grave admits 2 adults free of charge. Children ages 6-17 have a $1/each admittance fee.
